Before you can apply for a Student Visa, you must have a CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment) from any university in Australia.

Then create an account with the Australian Immigration Authority using details such as your name, phone number, and email address.

To apply for a student visa, make sure you have the following documents in digital formats:

  • CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment) 
  • OSHC health insurance  
  • Proof of temporary stay 
  • Birth certificate 
  • Bank statement as proof that you can finance your education, 
  • ELP test scores 
  • Paychecks or employment contracts as proof of previous employment (if any) 
  • Documentation of criminal offences (if any) 

Student visa applications can be submitted 124 days before the commencement of your course at the earliest.

You can apply for a student subclass 500. Answer other questions of the form about your family, course, etc. Pay the visa fee and get a TRN number. Depending on where you will study and live, you will get instructions about your health check-up and/or visa interview.

After a couple of weeks, you can check the status of your visa application to get your visa decision.

The duration of stay back options in Australia after completing a course varies depending on the level of study and type of visa held by the student. Graduates with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree may stay for 18 months to 4 years with the Temporary Graduate Visa. VET course graduates may stay up to 2 years with the Temporary Skilled Shortage visa. Check with the Department of Home Affairs for current requirements.
